El Jimador Cristalino Tequila 750ml
El Jimador began at Casa Herradura in 1994 as a sister brand to Herradura tequila, taking its name from the jimadores who skillfully harvest agave by hand at the historic Amatitán hacienda. Owned today by Brown-Forman, the brand built its reputation on making 100% Blue Weber agave tequila approachable and affordable for a wide audience. Cristalino is one of the newer additions to its lineup, part of a recent rebrand focused on straightforward, quality-driven presentation rather than flashy packaging.
Production begins the same way as the rest of the El Jimador range, with mature Blue Weber agave hearts roasted, fermented with natural airborne yeasts, and double distilled. The resulting spirit rests for about two months in deeply charred American white oak barrels, absorbing color and structure much like a standard reposado. It then passes through a charcoal filtration process that strips away that color, leaving a nearly transparent spirit that retains the underlying complexity gained from its time in wood, a style known as cristalino.
The nose offers vanilla, caramel, and delicate citrus alongside light floral and herbal notes. On the palate, that same vanilla sweetness carries through, joined by ripe fruit and a savory streak of bell pepper and black pepper that keeps the profile from turning one-dimensional. The finish is soft, clean, and smooth, making it equally suited to sipping neat or serving over ice. Its balance of sweetness and spice also lends itself well to an espresso-based carajillo.
