Etter Zuger Kirsch (Cherry) Eau de vie 700ml

Paul Etter founded this family distillery in the Swiss canton of Zug in 1870, and it remains family run today, with the fourth generation now at the helm. Kirsch was the only spirit the house produced for over a century before its range expanded in the 1980s, and it stayed the flagship expression that built Etter's reputation as one of Switzerland's most respected names in cherry brandy.

The kirsch is distilled from small black mountain cherries grown exclusively around Lake Zug, an area with a cherry-growing history stretching back centuries, drawing on fruit from more than a hundred cherry varieties supplied by dozens of local farmers. After a single distillation in copper pot stills, the spirit rests for at least two years in glass demijohns rather than wood, a slow evolution the distillery considers essential to developing its depth without picking up any oak character. Vintages are sometimes bottled on their own and sometimes blended across years to achieve balance.

The nose is intensely cherry, layered with bitter almond and a subtle floral lift reminiscent of blossom. On the palate the fruit stays vivid and clean, with a soft, harmonious texture and a gentle almond note running through a medium finish.
