Garrison Brothers Balmorhea Texas Bourbon Whiskey 750ml
Garrison Brothers Balmorhea Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey comes from Garrison Brothers Distillery in Hye, Texas, founded by Dan Garrison as the state's first legal whiskey distillery. The grain-to-glass operation sits in the Texas Hill Country, and Balmorhea takes its name from the iconic West Texas park home to North America's largest spring-fed swimming pool. The bourbon's debut release helped raise significant funds to keep that park open, and it remains the only twice-barreled expression in the distillery's portfolio, released annually in limited quantities.
The whiskey ages four years in new American white oak barrels made from wood grown, yard-seasoned, and dry-aged for twenty-five months in the Ozarks. It's then transferred into a second custom new oak barrel for further maturation before bottling at cask strength, typically around 57.5 percent ABV. Texas's intense heat accelerates the barrel interaction, giving Balmorhea a bold, concentrated character.
The nose brings cedar, cigar box, baking spice, and charred oak alongside dried fruit, black cherry, and chocolate. The palate centers on cinnamon, joined by apricot, treacle, maple syrup, and white pepper. The finish is long and lingering, full-bodied with a silky texture.
