Glenlivet 12 yr Provence Edition Single Malt Whiskey 750ml
The Glenlivet traces its origins to 1824, when founder George Smith secured one of the first legal distilling licenses in Scotland's remote Livet Valley. The distillery's tall, lantern-shaped copper stills encourage extended contact with copper during distillation, producing the clean, fruit-driven character that has made The Glenlivet one of the defining names in Speyside single malt whisky for two centuries.
The 12 Year Old Provence Edition is part of the distillery's Beyond Speyside series, which explores how The Glenlivet's classic style responds to maturation influences from outside Scotland. For this release, the whisky is selectively finished in a combination of casks that previously held Château Sainte Marguerite white wine, Rivesaltes, and Sauternes, all sourced from Provence in Southern France. Master Blender Kevin Balmforth oversaw the blend, which is bottled at 40 percent alcohol by volume.
The whisky opens with white peach, nectarine, pear, and bright citrus, layered with delicate floral notes. On the palate, honey, vanilla, and gentle spice come through alongside a subtle herbal quality, leading to a smooth, mellow finish with lingering sun-ripened fruit.
