Green River Full Proof Bourbon Whiskey 750ml

Green River Distilling Co. traces back to 1885 in Owensboro, Kentucky, and after decades of closure was revived in 2016 before being acquired by Bardstown Bourbon Company in 2022. Full Proof was created to give bourbon fans a barrel strength look at the same flagship recipe, drawing on selections from Green River's historic tile lined warehouses, which run notably warmer and cooler by section.

Full Proof shares its mash bill with the standard Green River bourbon, roughly 70 percent Kentucky grown corn, 21 percent rye, and 9 percent malted barley, but takes a different path once it goes into the barrel. Rather than a single warehouse profile, the blend pulls from five to seven year old barrels chosen from different zones of the tile rickhouses, where temperature swings produce noticeably different rates of maturation. The resulting whiskey is bottled straight from the barrel with no water added, landing at roughly 117 proof, or 58.65 percent alcohol by volume.

The nose is rich with toffee caramel and chocolate covered peppermint, joined by vanilla and seasoned oak. Warming rye spice carries through the palate alongside brown sugar and orange zest. Despite the high proof, the whiskey stays smooth, closing on a long, spicy finish.
