Hardy Legend 1863 Cognac 750ml

Maison Hardy was founded in 1863 by Anthony Hardy, a London cognac importer who, after years of traveling back and forth across the Channel, settled permanently along the Charente River and adopted the French form of his name, Antoine. His house earned early recognition when its Fine Champagne cognac won the Diploma of Excellence at the 1869 Amsterdam exhibition, and the estate remains in family hands today under fifth-generation cellar master Bénédicte Hardy, who describes the house style as intentionally opposite to robust, favoring finesse over power.

Legend 1863 is distilled from Ugni Blanc grown across three of the region's crus: Petite Champagne, Fins Bois, and a portion of the rare Borderies, prized for its round, floral character. The eaux-de-vie age between two and twelve years in lightly toasted Limousin oak, a deliberately restrained toast level meant to preserve the delicate style the house is known for rather than layer on heavy wood flavor.

The color is a medium amber. On the nose, cappuccino and vanilla open first, giving way to jasmine and a bright lift of citrus zest. The palate carries café latte and orange marmalade alongside pecan praline and brown sugar, finishing medium in length with lingering coffee and gentle spice.
