Heaven Hill Distillery has stayed in the hands of the Shapira family since it was founded in Bardstown, Kentucky in 1935, making it the largest independent, family owned bourbon producer in the country. Its original Bottled-in-Bond release debuted in 1939 and quickly became the top selling bourbon in the state, a legacy this bottling revives with a label drawn from the brand's earliest historic designs.

To carry the Bottled-in-Bond label, a whiskey must come from a single distiller at a single distillery in a single season, age at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse, and be bottled at exactly 100 proof, standards first written into law in 1897. Heaven Hill ages this bourbon three years beyond that minimum, letting it spend seven years total in charred new oak before bottling at 50 percent alcohol by volume.

The nose opens with classic Heaven Hill vanilla, caramel, and warm oak, followed by dried apricot, banana, and old leather. On the palate, seasoned oak and baking spice lead into tobacco, butterscotch, and graham cracker, with a light minty lift running underneath. The finish carries cinnamon spice into a clean, oaky close.
