High West Distillery operates out of Park City, Utah, and built its early reputation on rye at a time when most producers were content with barely legal mash bills sitting at 51 to 53 percent rye. Rendezvous takes its name from the mountain man gatherings of the 1820s, when whiskey trading first flourished across Wyoming and Utah's Cache Valley, and its label carries artwork from Western landscape painter Ed Mell.

Rendezvous Rye is a blend of straight rye whiskeys ranging from roughly four to nine years old, combining a sourced mash bill of 95 percent rye and 5 percent malted barley with High West's own pot-distilled rye, built from 80 percent rye and 20 percent malted rye. That second component reflects the distillery's ongoing shift toward more in-house distillate, and the blend leans on notably high rye content across both recipes. It's bottled at 92 proof after aging a minimum of four years in new charred oak.

The nose opens with orange peel and dried apricot, joined by mint, clove, and caramelized sugar. On the palate, bold ginger and cinnamon spice meet molasses, vanilla, and toasted oak, with a rounded sweetness balancing the rye's natural bite. The finish carries lively rye spice into caramel, orange zest, and tobacco, closing with real length and complexity.
