Johnnie Walker Green Label occupies an unusual place in the brand's lineup: rather than blending malt and grain whiskies together, as Johnnie Walker traditionally does, Green Label is a blended malt made entirely from single malt whiskies. It first appeared in 1997 as "Johnnie Walker Pure Malt," but the term "pure malt" drew criticism within the industry, prompting a rebrand to Green Label in 2004. Diageo discontinued the expression in most markets in 2011, only to bring it back in 2016 after sustained demand from whisky drinkers who had missed it.

The blend draws on four single malts from across Scotland's whisky regions, each aged a minimum of fifteen years: Talisker from the Isle of Skye, Linkwood and Cragganmore from Speyside, and Caol Ila from Islay. Combining malts from such different corners of the country gives the blend a layered complexity that a single distillery's whisky alone couldn't achieve. It is bottled at 43 percent alcohol by volume.

The nose shows crisp cut grass and fresh fruit alongside pepper, vanilla, and sandalwood. The palate brings deep wood notes, oak, and cedar, balanced by garden fruit and floral, tropical touches, finishing with the brand's characteristic smoke, peat, and a crisp edge of sea salt.
