Knob Creek 9 Year Small Batch Bourbon is produced by Jim Beam Distillery (part of Beam Suntory) in Clermont, Kentucky. The brand was created in the early 1990s as part of Jim Beam's original small batch collection, and it takes its name from a creek near the site where Abraham Lincoln spent part of his childhood, evoking the bold, pre-Prohibition style of bourbon the brand was built to represent.

Knob Creek uses Jim Beam's low-rye mash bill, generally cited as roughly 75 to 77 percent corn, around 13 percent rye, and the remainder malted barley. The whiskey is distilled and then aged for a minimum of nine years in deeply charred new American oak barrels, resting on the middle floors of Jim Beam's rickhouses to keep evaporation and temperature swings in check over such a long maturation. It is bottled at 100 proof without chill filtration, a strength chosen to preserve the fuller, spicier character that a higher-rye recipe and extended barrel time bring out.

On the nose, Knob Creek offers rich caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak, layered with baking spice, peanut, and a touch of dried fruit. The palate is bold and full-bodied, carrying dark chocolate, orange peel, and warming cinnamon and clove, while the finish runs long and warm, closing on charred oak and lingering sweetness.
