La Diablada Pisco Moscatel Brandy 750ml
Most of the world discovered pisco through the Pisco Sour. La Diablada's Moscatel expression is here to take things considerably further. Founded by Peruvian sisters Lizzie and Melanie Asher — with their 90-year-old grandmother advising on the blend and a co-op of women farmers supplying the grapes — Macchu Pisco has become one of the most acclaimed pisco houses in Peru , with La Diablada appearing on the menus of restaurants run by Daniel Boulud, Nobu Matsuhisa, and Eric Ripert.
This is a puro expression — made entirely from a single aromatic grape variety, the moscatel, following Peru's strict production rules: distilled once in a pot still, never diluted, never aged in wood, bottled exactly as it comes off the still. The nose is elegant and nuanced — rose petals, red fruit, and the green leaves of the flower. The palate delivers gentle cooked pear and amber honey sweetness, closing on a herbal, savory finish with a hint of green olives.
Sweeter, smoother, stranger — there is nothing quite like it on the planet. Sip it neat, make it the centerpiece of an extraordinary Pisco Sour, or splash it into a champagne cocktail and see what happens. Peru's most underrated spirit, at its most expressive.
