Château de Laubade was established in 1870 in Sorbets, in the heart of Bas-Armagnac, and today spans 105 hectares of gently sloping vineyard around the château, worked by the Lesgourgues family across three generations. Siblings Denis, Jeanne, and Arnaud now guide the estate, pairing traditional methods with sustainable practices such as green manures and a flock of sheep that helps manage the land naturally. Each grape variety is distilled separately in the estate's own copper stills, then aged across roughly 3,000 barrels housed in nine on-site cellars, with the cellar master rotating and monitoring casks to build complexity over time.

This 1959 vintage belongs to Laubade's Celebration range, reserved for eaux-de-vie aged at least half a century. Made from Baco and Ugni Blanc grown entirely on the estate, it rested for sixty-two years in Gascony oak crafted at Laubade's own cooperage before being bottled in 2021, with the bottling date marking the exact end of its long maturation.

Six decades in wood have given the spirit a deep, richly concentrated character, with exotic fruit and orange peel woven through notes of dried fig and warm spice. The texture is dense and layered, closing on a long, contemplative finish suited to unhurried, reflective sipping.
