Château de Laubade was established in 1870 in Sorbets, in the Gers department of Gascony, and remains the largest single-estate vineyard in Bas-Armagnac, spanning 105 hectares of tawny sand and clay soils. The property is currently led by Denis Lesgourgues and his siblings Jeanne and Arnaud, continuing three generations of family stewardship, with vintage stocks in the estate's cellars dating back well over a century.

This 1984 vintage was harvested, distilled, and laid down entirely from estate-grown grapes, using Laubade's custom-built Armagnac still to distill each grape variety separately without added sulfites, preserving maximum aromatic potential. The spirit then aged for thirty-nine years in traditional 400-liter oak barrels crafted by the estate's own in-house cooper from Gascony oak, before being bottled in 2023. Every bottle carries its bottling date and batch number, allowing full traceability back to the original cask.

Deep amber in color, this Armagnac opens with dried fruit, toffee apple, and cedar wood, layered with hints of dried fig and spice. On the palate, dry, leathery oak meets sweet stewed fruit, tobacco leaf, and warm baking spice, unfolding into a long, complex finish of licorice and dark coffee. This is a reflective sipping Armagnac, best enjoyed neat after dinner.
