Château de Laubade occupies 105 hectares of single-block vineyard in the heart of Bas-Armagnac, making it the largest estate of its kind in the appellation. Founded in 1870, the property has belonged to the Lesgourgues family for three generations, with Jean-Jacques's children now carrying forward a strict philosophy of environmental care and full traceability. Laubade is the only Armagnac house that coopers its own barrels from estate-grown Gascony oak, giving it complete control over every stage of production from vineyard to bottle.

This 1994 vintage comes entirely from a single year's harvest, blending Ugni Blanc, Baco, and Colombard grown on the estate's sandy soils. Each variety was distilled separately in copper stills before aging in the property's own handcrafted casks, left to mature naturally to a cask strength of roughly 51.2 percent rather than being reduced before bottling.

The nose is delicate and fruity, showing dried prune and vanilla alongside soft smoky wood. On the palate it turns round and rich, with notes of chocolate, butter, and ripe stone fruit that melt into a long, warm finish carrying gentle nutty rancio and a lingering trace of toasted oak.
