Laubade 1995 Bas-Armagnac 750ml
Château de Laubade has crafted fine Armagnacs since 1870, and the fully independent, family-run estate spans 105 hectares of single-block vineyard in the heart of Bas-Armagnac, the largest holding of its kind in the appellation. The Lesgourgues family, now in its third generation, distills each grape variety separately in copper stills before aging every eau-de-vie in barrels crafted at the estate's own cooperage, a level of vertical control that gives Laubade's vintages their distinctive house character.
This 1995 vintage is composed entirely from that year's harvest, distilled from the estate's traditional grape varieties and left to mature slowly in Gascony oak as part of Laubade's Celebration range, a collection reserved for rare bottlings aged between fifteen and fifty years. The long resting period lets the eau-de-vie draw deeply from the wood, developing the noble, powerful character typical of the estate's older releases.
The nose is complex and racy, showing noble oak alongside toasted notes, vanilla, and candied orange. On the palate the spirit reveals dark fruit and oak in ample, well-integrated layers, closing on a round, satisfying finish that reflects three decades of patient aging.
