Maison Rouge V.S.O.P. Cognac 750ml
Maison Rouge is produced by Maison Hardy, a cognac house founded in 1863 that has built its reputation on the traditional houses' central skills of blending and cellar management. Rather than using the Hardy name and rooster emblem, the house markets this line under its own red-and-farmhouse branding, positioning Maison Rouge as an accessible entry point into serious cognac without diluting its flagship range.
This V.S.O.P. draws on eaux-de-vie from several of the region's recognized crus, with the blend leaning heavily on Fins Bois and rounded out by Bon Bois and Petite Champagne. The Ugni Blanc grapes are twice distilled in traditional Charentais copper pot stills, and the youngest spirit in the blend spends a minimum of four years maturing in French oak, the standard required for the V.S.O.P. designation.
The color runs deep mahogany. On the nose, vanilla, tobacco, and cedar sit alongside rancio and candied fruit, with cinnamon shading into nutmeg. The palate brings dried fruit and spice framed by toasted bread, finishing with a spicy note of nutmeg and prune.
