Marie Brizard is one of the oldest liqueur houses in the world, tracing its origins to Bordeaux, France in 1755. According to company history, the founder, a Bordeaux woman named Marie Brizard, was given a secret recipe for anisette by a West Indian sailor she had nursed back to health, and she went on to commercialize it with her nephew Jean-Baptiste Roger. The house built its long-standing reputation on natural flavorings at a time when artificial ingredients were becoming widespread, and it continues to produce dozens of liqueur styles today, of which this apricot expression is among its classics.

Apry is built from apricots grown in Roussillon and South Africa, chosen for a rich, concentrated character. The recipe combines an infusion of both fresh and dried apricots with apricot spirit, then blends in Gautier cognac and French rum, along with a proprietary botanical distillation overseen by the house's liqueur master. This layered, multi-step method sets it apart from simpler fruit liqueurs built on infusion alone. The finished liqueur is bottled at 20.5% alcohol by volume.

Apry shows a bright amber-orange color with golden hues. The nose offers fresh and candied apricot, while the palate is soft yet powerful, layering ripe stone fruit with hints of almond, honey, and warm spice through a smooth, lingering finish.
