Marie Duffau Armagnac traces its origins to Prosper Delord, born in 1875, who traveled from farm to farm across Bas-Armagnac with a portable pot still before marrying Marie Duffau, heiress to several hectares of family vineyards. The couple officially founded the house together with their son Gaston in 1925, establishing a permanent base in Lannepax that the family continues to operate today.

This Napoleon expression is made entirely from estate-grown grapes farmed without pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, blending seventy percent ugni blanc for structure, twenty percent baco for roundness, and small portions of colombard and folle blanche for herbal and floral lift. The wine undergoes a single, slow distillation at unusually low temperatures, a method that preserves more of the fruit's natural fatty acids and aromatic character. While Armagnac law requires only six years of aging to earn the Napoleon designation, this bottling typically rests for a minimum of ten years in a mix of Gascon and Limousin oak before release.

The nose opens with dried fruit, prune, apricot, and raisin, layered with roasted chestnut and orange rind. On the palate, cocoa and vanilla give way to warm caramel and baking spice, softened by gentle tannins and a whisper of rancio. The finish is soft and lightly nutty. This Armagnac makes an excellent after-dinner pour, and its spice notes also lend themselves well to a warm mulled brandy punch.

"Using only estate grown grapes from the heart of Bas Armagnac, this 6 year old expression has a complex array of aromas. Dried fruits such as prunes, apricots, and raisins fill the headspace of the glass. The taste has warming flavors of caramel, plum, and spice that leave your palate fully coated and fulfilled. "
