McQueen and the Violet Fog Ultraviolet Edition comes from McQueen and the Violet Fog, a gin brand founded in 2015 by husband-and-wife team Dale and Vicky McQueen and now part of Sovereign Brands' artisanal spirits portfolio. The gin is distilled in the hills of Jundiaí, in Brazil's São Paulo state, using traditional copper pot stills and a base of Brazilian sugarcane neutral spirit rather than the grain base typical of most gins. The flagship expression has drawn attention for its tropical, citrus-forward take on the category, earning recognition from GQ Magazine as one of the standout gins on the market, and Ultraviolet Edition marked Sovereign Brands' first expansion of the line.

The gin begins with McQueen's original recipe of twenty-one botanicals, distilled together in a single traditional pot still. Rose petal, coriander, and rosemary sit at the core, joined by less common ingredients like lemongrass, pomelo peel, orris root, and jasmine flower. To create the Ultraviolet Edition, natural hibiscus flower, red berry flavors, natural fruit juices, and carmine are layered on top of that base, giving the gin its striking violet color, a hue that visibly shifts when mixed with tonic or citrus. The finished spirit is bottled at 40 percent alcohol by volume.

The nose opens with fresh red berries, tropical fruit, and jasmine. On the palate, lemon and tangerine lead before giving way to cranberry and blueberry, layered over the earthier, more floral character of the original botanical blend. The finish is smooth and lingering, with a subtle sweetness that lasts well after the fruit notes fade.
