Mijenta Maestra Selection No2 Blanco Tequila 750ml
Mijenta Tequila is guided by Maestra Tequilera Ana María Romero, whose Maestra Selection series was created to explore rare and experimental facets of agave and tequila production. Selection No. 1 focused on high-proof spirit made entirely from seed-grown agave, while this second release shifts the lens to geography, sourcing agave from a single estate in each of the five Mexican states permitted to produce tequila under the official Denomination of Origin. Distilled at NOM 1412, the brand's longtime production partner, the release is bottled in a distinctive five-sided bottle that echoes those five contributing regions.
Made entirely from 100% Blue Weber agave, this blanco draws fruit from single estates in Jalisco, Guanajuato, Michoacán, Nayarit, and Tamaulipas, states whose differing soils, elevations, and climates give each batch of agave a markedly different character. Each region's agave is fermented, distilled, and evaluated on its own before Romero blends the results into one final spirit, unaged and bottled shortly after distillation to keep the qualities of each terroir intact. Like all Mijenta releases, it is produced without additives.
The nose is layered and expressive, opening with caramelized coconut and vanilla over cooked agave, joined by notes of cherry, roasted pineapple, and warm baking spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. Herbal and floral tones, including mint and rose, add further complexity. On the palate the tequila turns silky and gently sweet, echoing that same fruit and spice character before finishing smooth with a lingering trace of citrus. It makes an excellent base for a Tommy's margarita, where its depth carries through the drink.
