Mt. Pleasant Pierce Mill Rum Barrel Finished Rye Whiskey 750ml

Mt. Pleasant Club Whiskey comes from Reboot Beverages, a small Washington, D.C. label founded by John Loughner and Troy Hughes, who launched the brand after finding an empty pre-Prohibition whiskey bottle hidden in the roof of a rowhouse on the namesake neighborhood's 19th Street. That discovery inspired a revival of Mt. Pleasant's whiskey history, with each small-batch release named for a street or landmark in the neighborhood and paired with original artwork from local artists. True to the brand's community roots, a portion of proceeds from every bottle goes back to Mt. Pleasant causes, continuing the tradition established with the label's first "19th Street" batch.

This expression starts as the distillery's Kilbourne Place Rye before being transferred into a rum barrel sourced from Cotton & Reed, a Washington, D.C. rum producer, for extended secondary maturation. That rum cask finishing softens the rye's natural spice and layers in notes typical of Caribbean-style rum aging, giving the whiskey a rounder, more approachable character than the base rye alone. As with other Mt. Pleasant Club releases, production runs are extremely limited, with each batch bottled and numbered individually.

Expect a nose shaped by rum-driven sweetness intertwining with classic rye spice, moving into a palate where dark fruit and molasses meet peppery grain and warm oak. The finish carries that same balance of rum sweetness and rye bite through to the end, rounding out with a lingering warmth. Its layered character makes it a compelling choice for sipping neat, letting the rum finish unfold gradually in the glass.
