Celebrating thirty years since its 1996 founding, independent bottler Murray McDavid has been part of cask broker Aceo since 2013, giving its team access to a deep inventory of maturing Scotch from distilleries across the country. Its whiskies rest in the warehouses of Coleburn Distillery in Speyside, and the Benchmark range sits at the heart of its portfolio, showcasing mature single malts bottled without chill filtration or added color.

Benrinnes sits at the foot of the Ben Rinnes mountain in Speyside and dates to 1826. Long prized for a robust, meaty spirit, it sends most of its output to blends, with just one regular official bottling, so independent releases are eagerly sought. This bottling spent its entire maturation in ex-bourbon barrels and was bottled at cask strength.

Ripe pineapple and banana lead on the nose, backed by creamy malt and vanilla. The palate is full and rich, layering caramel sweetness over mixed nuts and bright fruit before a long finish of tropical fruit and lemon zest. A splash of water opens it further.
