NV Concha y Toro - Chardonnay Frontera MAGNUM (1.5L)
Frontera Chardonnay comes from Concha y Toro, a Chilean producer founded in 1883 by Don Melchor de Santiago Concha y Toro and his wife, Emiliana Subercaseaux, who brought grape varieties from Bordeaux to establish the estate. The company grew into one of the largest wine businesses in South America, and Frontera was developed as an accessible, everyday label showcasing Chile's warm-climate fruit at a friendly price point.
The Chardonnay grapes for this bottling are grown in Chile's Central Valley, where sunny days and cooling Andean influences let the fruit ripen fully while holding onto natural acidity. Harvest typically takes place in March using a combination of hand and mechanical picking. The wine then spends a short period aging in stainless steel, a method chosen to preserve bright fruit character rather than add oak-driven weight, resulting in a clean, fruit-forward style meant for early drinking.
This Chardonnay opens with aromas of apple, ripe pear, and tropical notes of papaya and pineapple, rounded out by subtle hints of butter and vanilla. On the palate it is soft and balanced, with a touch of sweetness framed by lively acidity through a crisp finish. Its bright character pairs nicely with grilled shrimp, roast turkey, or a simple green salad with vinaigrette.
