NV Giesen - Premium Dealcoholized Red (750ml)

Giesen was founded by three brothers, Theo, Alex, and Marcel Giesen, who first planted vines in 1981 after falling for the cooler climate of New Zealand's South Island. What started as a small operation near Christchurch grew into a winery with a strong presence across Marlborough, built on the brothers' shared passion for winemaking and a lasting commitment to family and sustainability. In recent years Giesen has become a leader in non-alcoholic wine, expanding its Giesen 0% range to include this Premium Red alongside its well-known Sauvignon Blanc.

This Premium Red is made from New Zealand Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes, harvested, pressed, and fermented in the traditional way before the finished wine goes through a gentle spinning process to remove the alcohol. This method, adapted from techniques used in perfume-making, separates out the alcohol while preserving the wine's aromatic compounds, body, and tannic structure. A touch of grape juice is then blended back in to round out the final wine, giving it extra body and a hint of natural sweetness.

The glass shows a deep ruby color with aromas of crushed blackberry and wild herbs. On the palate, red berries and plum mingle with a touch of toasted oak, finishing smooth and dry with fine, powdery tannins. Serve it in a roomy glass alongside grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or a simple cheese board.
