Philippe Grisard represents the third generation of a winemaking family based in Cruet, a small Savoie village at the foot of the Massif des Bauges Regional Natural Park, where he settled his operations in 2010. His family's history in the region traces back to the aftermath of phylloxera in the 1890s, when they replanted with grafted vines and became nursery growers, and that legacy has left Grisard with a lasting devotion to rare Alpine grape varieties. His vineyards spread across six Savoie communes, each with distinct soils and microclimates that let him express the character of the region's native grapes.

Originelle is crafted from Mondeuse Blanche, an old and once nearly forgotten variety notable for being a genetic parent of both Syrah and Viognier. The grapes are harvested by hand from limestone scree terroir, then vinified in stainless steel vats and aged for roughly ten months on fine lees, a method chosen to build texture and depth without introducing oak character.

The wine shows pale gold with green highlights, opening to aromas of white flowers, stone fruit, and toasted hazelnut. On the palate it is rich and generous, with apricot and violet notes and considerable length. It pairs beautifully with poultry, white meats, shellfish, or firm cheeses.
