Pierre Moncuit is a small, family-run grower estate based in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of the most prized Grand Cru villages in the Côte des Blancs. The house is overseen by siblings Nicole and Yves Moncuit, who farm parcels planted with an unusually high share of old rootstock, a rarity in a region where vines are typically replanted well before old age. Pierre Moncuit has built its reputation almost entirely on pure, terroir-driven Chardonnay from this single village.

Cuvée Delos is made exclusively from Chardonnay grown on the chalky limestone soils of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The wine rests on its lees for roughly three years, developing depth before a very light dosage is added at disgorgement, keeping this bottling in the Extra Brut style. Disgorgements happen several times throughout the year to ensure freshness on release.

Aromas of lemon, white grapefruit, and white flowers lead into a distinct chalky minerality, with brioche and almond emerging as the wine opens in the glass. The palate is brisk and briny, carried by fine, persistent bubbles toward a long, laser-like finish. Pair it with steamed clams, roast chicken, or a lemon tart.

91 Points
"A bright but pale yellow hue, the NV Champagne Grand Cru Blanc De Blancs Delos Extra Brut is made from the 2021 vintage. It opens with a nose featuring lemon sorbet and a fine mousse that highlights its pretty, salty, crystalline, and fresh notes with lemon candy qualities, bright green apples, and chalky earth. This Champagne is focused and medium-bodied, with a lively energy that persists through the palate, ending with a refreshing, clean finish. Drink now or within the next 6-8 years."
