Based in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger on Champagne's Côte des Blancs, the Péters family has grown and bottled Chardonnay under their own name since 1919, making them one of the region's earliest grower-producers. The estate has remained in family hands for six generations and has focused exclusively on Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Champagne since its founding. Rodolphe Péters, the current generation at the helm, is known for championing blanc de blancs as a serious, age-worthy style rather than a lighter alternative to blended Champagne, and for his pioneering use of a deep perpetual reserve system to build complexity into the house's non-vintage wines.

Cuvée de Réserve is grown exclusively on 19 hectares of Chardonnay in the family's parcels across Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Cramant, Avize and Oger, all Grand Cru villages defined by their chalky subsoil. The wine is built from a base vintage blended with a substantial portion of reserve wine, itself a multi-vintage solera dating back to 1988, a method the estate helped popularize in the Champagne region. Dosage sits between 6 and 7 grams per liter, keeping the finished wine dry and precise.

The nose offers citrus, orchard fruit, and toasted brioche, layered with hints of hazelnut and wet chalk that reflect the underlying terroir. The mousse is fine and persistent, carrying a bright, saline energy through to a long, mineral finish. It suits raw oysters, grilled scallops, or a roast chicken with herbs.

92 Points
"The NV Blanc de Blancs Cuvee de Reserve is such a gorgeous wine. Bright, mineral and savory, with attractive tropical accents, the Cuvee de Reserve offers striking nuance and tons of class. This release is based on 2016, with reserve wines that go back to 1988. Partially blocked malolactic fermentation helps preserve a measure of freshness, but what impresses most is the wine's total sense of balance. For readers who want to know what the Cote des Blancs is all about, without spending the money for an elite cuvee, this is the place to start. In a word: impressive. "
