Veuve Clicquot traces its roots to 1772, when Philippe Clicquot founded the house in Reims. The estate takes its name from his daughter-in-law, Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin, who took the reins as a young widow in 1805 and went on to invent the riddling table, a clarification method still used across the sparkling wine world today. Under her guidance the house became one of the first to export Champagne widely across Europe, laying the groundwork for the brand's global reach. Now producing tens of millions of bottles a year, Veuve Clicquot remains one of the most recognized names in Champagne, instantly identifiable by its bright yellow label.

Yellow Label draws on grapes from as many as fifty to sixty different crus, with Pinot Noir making up roughly half the blend and providing its structural backbone, Chardonnay contributing finesse, and a smaller portion of Meunier rounding things out. Up to 45 percent reserve wine goes into the final assemblage, drawn from a cellar collection that includes bottlings aged for decades, which helps keep the house style consistent from release to release. The wine spends a minimum of three years aging in the chalk cellars before disgorgement, with dosage generally landing around 9 to 10 grams per liter.

Golden yellow in the glass with a steady stream of fine bubbles, this Champagne opens with orchard fruit, citrus peel, and a touch of brioche, rounded out by hints of vanilla and toasted almond. The palate is medium-bodied and generous, with ripe pear and red berry carrying through to a soft, creamy finish. It suits grilled shrimp, roast pork, or a simple fruit tart.
