Veuve Clicquot was founded in Reims in 1772, and the house owes much of its enduring reputation to Madame Clicquot, the widow who took charge after her husband's death and pioneered the riddling process still used across Champagne today. The house maintains one of the largest reserve wine libraries in the region, with hundreds of wines kept in stainless steel and some dating back decades, giving its cellar team an unusual depth of material to draw on for consistency.

The Brut Rosé blends roughly half Pinot Noir with Chardonnay and Meunier, sourced from as many as sixty different crus. About twelve percent still red wine is added through maceration to build color and structure, a higher proportion than many rosé Champagnes use. The wine rests on its lees for around three years before a dosage of eight grams per liter is added at release.

Aromas of raspberry, wild strawberry, and cherry lead into notes of dried fruit, almond, and brioche. The palate is rich and rounded, with a creamy mousse, flavors of preserved strawberry and orange peel, and a clean, chalky finish. Serve with shrimp cocktail, roast turkey, or a berry pavlova.

91 Points
"This mouthwatering ros? Champagne shows textural density, sitting like raw silk on the palate and offering flavors of dried white cherry, grapefruit granita and ground ginger, with a light and lingering toast note"
—Wine Spectator
