Old Forester 1910 Old Fine Whisky is produced by the Old Forester Distilling Company in Louisville, Kentucky, part of Brown-Forman and often billed as America's first bottled bourbon. The expression revisits a pivotal moment in the brand's nearly 150-year history: on October 22, 1910, a fire disrupted the bottling line, forcing mature whiskey into a secondary barrel while repairs were made. The result was so distinctive that it became its own bottling, and this modern release, the fourth and final entry in Old Forester's Whiskey Row Series, was created to honor that accident.

Old Forester 1910 starts from the brand's standard mash bill of roughly 72 percent corn, 18 percent rye, and 10 percent malted barley. After its initial maturation, the whiskey undergoes a second barreling at a relatively low 100 proof into heavily charred new oak, a process meant to draw out more of the sweet wood sugars that develop when whiskey re-enters the barrel at a gentler strength. The finished bourbon is bottled at 93 proof, or 46.5 percent ABV, and has earned recognition including a Gold Medal at the San Francisco Spirits Competition.

On the nose, expect layers of buttercream, sticky toffee, cedar, and baked apple. The palate brings oatmeal raisin cookie and milk chocolate mingling with caramel corn and evolving spice, while the finish turns dry and viscous, closing on charred oak and a clean, peripheral warmth.
