Old Line American Single Malt Whiskey 750ml

Old Line Spirits is a craft distillery based in Baltimore's Highlandtown neighborhood, founded in 2015 by Arch Watkins and Mark McLaughlin. The pair originally set out to make bourbon and rye before an early single malt producer in Washington state offered to sell them the operation and teach them the craft. While their own distillery was under construction, Old Line contract distilled its whiskey at Middle West Spirits in Ohio, officially opening its Baltimore doors in 2017 with this expression as its flagship release.

Old Line American Single Malt is distilled from one hundred percent malted barley sourced from the Pacific Northwest, run through copper pot stills. The spirit rests for two years in small, ten-gallon casks of charred new American white oak, a sizing choice that speeds up wood contact and gives the young whiskey an outsized depth. It is bottled at 86 proof.

The nose is sweet and smooth, with cedar and leather notes tucked behind vanilla and hints of berry. On the palate, vanilla and soft fruit meet molasses, baking spice, and leathery undertones, finishing with warm, toasted oak.
