Passoa Passion Fruit Liqueur 750ml
Passoã traces back to 1985, when a master distiller working for the French liqueur house Rémy Cointreau traveled to Brazil in search of a particular orange variety for a new recipe. The trip instead led him to passion fruit, a discovery he brought home and turned into an entirely new liqueur category. Passoã launched in the European market in 1986 and expanded worldwide by 1994, growing into the best-selling passion fruit liqueur globally. In 2016, Rémy Cointreau entered a joint venture with the Dutch liqueur house Lucas Bols to manage the brand, and Bols has held full ownership since 2020.
The liqueur is built around real passion fruit juice imported from Brazil, blended with neutral spirit, sugar, and water rather than artificial flavoring compounds. This straightforward, ingredient-driven approach has earned Passoã recognition at international spirits competitions over the years. It is bottled at seventeen percent alcohol by volume and packaged in its recognizable black bottle with a bold red label, a design meant to echo the fruit's vivid color and tropical origin.
In the glass, Passoã shows a striking, saturated red hue. The aroma is unmistakably tropical, led by ripe passion fruit, and the palate delivers a full, rounded sweetness cut by the fruit's natural tartness, finishing long with lingering fruity acidity.
