Perucchi Rosso Gran Reserva Vermouth 1L
Vermouth Perucchi holds the distinction of being the first vermouth ever made in Spain, created in 1876 by Don Augustus Perucchi in Badalona, Catalonia. The recipe and much of the solera system used to age it have remained largely unchanged since then, and each bottle carries a small proportion of vermouth that dates back more than a hundred and fifty years.
The Gran Reserva is built from a careful blend of wines and sweet mistelles, macerated with more than fifty organic herbs, plants, and roots according to the founder's original formula. It develops in a nine-thousand-liter solera system of large wooden vats seeded with mothers dating to 1876, a process that takes about three years, before spending a further two years rounding out in old brandy barrels. No preservatives or dyes are used at any stage.
The vermouth pours a deep, bright ruby color. Subtle vegetal aromas mingle with oak and a nutty edge, while the palate turns balanced and slightly bitter, soft yet long on the finish. Enjoy it on the rocks with a slice of orange, or alongside olives, cured meats, or a rich blue cheese.
