Prunier is one of Cognac's oldest houses, tracing back to 1769, when the family began bottling and shipping spirits from the town of Cognac itself. In 1850, Jean Prunier built a new family home and cellars beside the Cognac railway station, a site that remains the company's headquarters today. Now guided by the fifth generation of the family, Prunier does not grow its own grapes but instead sources eaux-de-vie from independent winegrowers and distillers across the region, building its reputation on the careful selection, aging, and blending of these purchased stocks.

The orange liqueur was created roughly thirty years ago by cellar master Stéphane Burnez, originally more as a personal experiment than a commercial product, before demand from those who tasted it convinced the house to bottle it for sale. Natural orange extracts are blended with young Cognac chosen for its fruity character, along with sugar syrup and distilled water, then aged for at least six months in oak barrels using a solera-style system before being reduced to forty percent alcohol by volume and filtered.

The liqueur shows a bright gold color, with orange aroma that builds steadily in the glass alongside the Cognac beneath it. The palate opens zesty and peppery, warming through a spicy midpalate before finishing bittersweet, with orange zest lingering into a long, luscious close.

"Prunier's Orange Liqueur au Cognac is a classic combination of Cognac, orange extract, sugar, and distilled water. Fresh and fruity, this can be enjoyed neat, in cocktails, or poured over vanilla ice cream. "
