Rémy Martin was founded in 1724 by Paul-Émile Rémy Martin, a vine grower's son who built a cognac trading house in the Charente region. The name 1738 Accord Royal commemorates a royal warrant granted by King Louis XV in that year, permitting the young house to expand its vineyard at a time when new plantings were otherwise forbidden in France, a gesture said to reflect the king's fondness for the estate's cognac.

This Fine Champagne cognac was first blended in 1997 by then cellar master Georges Clot, combining more than two hundred eaux-de-vie sourced exclusively from Grande and Petite Champagne, the two most prized crus of the region, in a roughly two-to-one ratio favoring Grande Champagne. The blend spans spirits aged four to twenty years, with several additional months in new oak compared to Rémy's standard offerings, giving it a richer, more structured character than the house's core VSOP.

Accord Royal pours a deep coppery amber and opens with fig marmalade, toffee, and toasted bread, layered with baking spice and a hint of tobacco. On the palate, butterscotch and dark chocolate meet cinnamon and dried fruit, finishing with grilled almond and a touch of black pepper warmth.
