Rhum J.M. VSOP Rum 750ml
The wild, volcanic soul of Martinique — aged to remarkable elegance.
Rhum J.M. traces its roots to a plantation established by Dominican friar Jean-Baptiste Labat upon his arrival in Martinique in 1694. The estate sits on the volcanic slopes of Mt. Pelée in the north of the island — a unique microclimate of rich volcanic soil, low cloud ceilings, and Atlantic sea breezes that gives the cane a character no other rum region can replicate.
As a Rhum Agricole Martinique AOC, J.M. starts entirely from freshly pressed sugar cane juice grown on the estate itself — not molasses — a process used by fewer than 5% of the world's rum producers, yielding a dramatically different and more terroir-driven product.
The VSOP is matured three years in re-charred Bourbon barrels, then finished for an additional year in lightly toasted virgin American oak, resulting in butterscotch, vanilla, and cinnamon aromas with a core of toasty oak, subtle grassiness, brown sugar, rich toffee, and lingering hints of chocolate. Remarkably deep for four years and 43% ABV — no additives, as required by the strict Martinique AOC.
Think less Caribbean beach bar, more rustic Armagnac. A sipping rhum that rewards the curious.
