Singleton 17 yr Glen Ord "Into The Blue" Special Release 2025 Single Malt Whisky 750ml

Glen Ord distillery sits in the Scottish Highlands near Muir of Ord and produces the whisky marketed globally as The Singleton, one of three distilleries, alongside Dufftown and Glendullan, whose malts Diageo sells under the Singleton name in different regions. Glen Ord's smooth, approachable house style has made it a natural candidate for Diageo's annual Special Releases series, an event that gives the distillery's blenders room to experiment with unconventional cask finishes well outside the brand's usual range.

Into the Blue, the 17 year old entry in the 2025 Special Releases, was built from two distinct components married together. One portion matured in refill casks before finishing in Mexican ex-mezcal barrels, while the other was finished in second-fill Spanish sherry casks, a pairing Glen Ord had not attempted before for this label. The result is bottled at natural cask strength of 55.5% ABV, left non-chill filtered and without added color, and released as a limited, small-batch bottling.

The nose is dry and aromatic, carrying light oriental spice, a faint vegetal mezcal character, and dried raisin fruit underneath. On the palate, sweetness and a touch of salinity meet ginger spice and dried fruit from the sherry casks, with the mezcal contributing a discreet, herbal thread. The finish runs long and savory, closing with white pepper.
