Tempus Fugit Spirits is dedicated to sourcing and reviving rare liqueurs from the pages of history, and its Crème de Moka revives one of the earliest known coffee liqueur styles, drawing on a recipe dating to 1755. The name references the historic Port of Mocha in Yemen, which served as the major trading hub for Coffea Arabica beans from the fifteenth through the early nineteenth centuries and gave rise to "Moka" as shorthand for the finest arabica coffee available to European traders.

Tempus Fugit sources its coffee from the renowned Ethiopian highland regions of Sidamo and Yirgacheffe. Those beans are expertly distilled with a neutral eau de vie, then blended with cold brewed Ethiopian coffee and sweetened with cane sugar, with no additional flavorings or artificial coloring added at any stage. The finished liqueur is bottled at 25 percent alcohol by volume, following the same historically grounded, ingredient focused approach the producer applies across its portfolio of revived pre-Prohibition liqueurs.

The nose offers rich, nutty, freshly roasted coffee aromas that set up the palate nicely. A touch of sweetness arrives first, quickly giving way to a whisper of roasted bitterness at mid palate, layered with notes of dark berries and subtle floral tones. The finish is smooth and satisfying, closer to a well made cup of coffee than a syrupy dessert liqueur.

"Crema de Mocha is one of the earlist of coffee liqueur, with recipes dating back to the middle of the 18th Century.

The Port of Moccha was central to the trade of coffee beans from many regions, especially those from The Kingdom of Abyssinia (present-day Ethopia), which is regarded historically as the birthplaces of coffee. these highly prized Ethiopian coffee beans were sent across the Red Sea to the Port Mocha by merchants from Berbera, then shipped from there to the finest Coffee houses on the European Continent. Developed from de Creme de Moka recipe, daating from 1755, Tempus Fugit distilled with neutral eau-de vie, blended with cold-brewed Ethiopan coffee and cane sugar. No artificial flavoring or coloring is added.
