Vizcaya Cask 21 VXOP Rum 750ml

Vizcaya Rum traces its roots to Oliver & Oliver, a distilling company founded by Oliver Juanillo in nineteenth century Cuba. Following the 1959 revolution, the operation relocated to the Dominican Republic, where it continues to produce Vizcaya using traditional Cuban methods. Unlike many rums built from molasses, Vizcaya is distilled from pure sugarcane juice in small batches, a technique the brand traces directly back to its Cuban origins.

Cask 21 VXOP is built from a blend of solera aged rums ranging from fifteen to twenty one years old, matured in select sherry casks. A small addition of an imperial style thirty year old rum rounds out the blend, adding further depth and complexity to the final product. The rum is bottled at 40% ABV and has earned recognition at competitions including the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, where it took top honors in the aged rum category.

The nose shows rich notes of apricot and vanilla, while the palate delivers sumptuous butterscotch, nutmeg, and warm vanilla in a full, powerful profile. The finish is smooth and lingering, with a gentle sweetness that lasts well after the sip. Cask 21 VXOP is built primarily for sipping neat or over ice, letting its layered, cognac like character take center stage.
