Portland's Westward Whiskey lives by a singular philosophy: brew like a craft ale, distill like a single malt, age like a bourbon. The Stout Cask is where that ethos reaches its most delicious conclusion. Made from 100% Pacific Northwest two-row barley, double pot-distilled and aged in new American oak, the whiskey is then finished for an additional year in stout barrels sourced from Oregon craft breweries — the distillery trading its own emptied barrels to local brewers, who season them with stout and send them back. The nose opens with sweet caramel, toffee, cacao, and toasted oak, with stone fruit and a green tea-sage note underneath. The palate delivers on every promise — stout beer, cacao nibs, malt, vanilla, and cinnamon spice with a creamy, medium-bodied mouthfeel. Heavy, but beautifully balanced — a dark and stunning whiskey that showcases what a perfectly executed beer-finished spirit should be.  45% ABV / 90 proof

"A celebration of Oregon's legendary brewing culture, this whiskey grew out of our longstanding cask-trading tradition among a select group of beer producers in the Northwest. For as long as we've been making whiskey, we've traded our freshly-emptied barrels with some of our brewing friends in and around the Northwest, who have in turn “seasoned” them with Stout before returning them again. Our Stout Cask Finish begins with our Westward American Single Malt, and is then aged for one year in Stout casks.

Fruity and robust, with plum, apricot leather, and chocolate ganache notes. Apple, plantain, and nutmeg, with a rich, dried fruit and sweet malt finish.
