Pursuit United Blended Straight Rye Whiskey 750ml

Pursuit Spirits was founded in 2018 by Kenny Coleman and Ryan Cecil, the pair behind Bourbon Pursuit, one of the most listened-to bourbon podcasts in the country. Rather than distilling their own whiskey, the two built Pursuit Spirits as a dedicated blending house based in Louisville, sourcing barrels from multiple distilleries and combining different mash bills to create something distinct from what any single producer offers on its own.

This rye brings together three component whiskeys from two distilleries in two states. Two mash bills, both 95 percent rye and 5 percent malted barley, come from Sagamore Spirit in Maryland and Bardstown Bourbon Company in Kentucky, while a third from Sagamore uses a lower-rye recipe built with corn and malted barley. Once blended, the whiskey is bottled at 108 proof, Pursuit's standard strength across the Pursuit United line, under batch designation 7CC for this particular release.

The nose opens with brown sugar sweetness and clove, joined by spearmint, cedar, and light cinnamon, with dark stone fruits like black cherry and a touch of raisin rounding things out. On the palate, rye spice meets oak and caramel before dark cherry and grape juice arrive on the back end. The finish builds with oak char and black pepper, closing warm and slightly sweet with real staying power.
