Pursuit United Sherry Finish Blended Rye Whiskey 750ml

Pursuit Spirits was founded in 2018 by Kenny Coleman and Ryan Cecil, the duo behind the Bourbon Pursuit podcast, one of the most widely followed voices in American whiskey media. Rather than distilling in-house, Pursuit Spirits operates as a blending house based in Louisville, sourcing barrels from multiple distilleries and marrying different mash bills into a single cohesive whiskey, an approach that defines their Pursuit United line and its ongoing Oak Collection.

This sherry finish rye starts as the standard Pursuit United blend, combining three component ryes across two distilleries. Two mash bills come from Sagamore Spirit in Maryland, a 95 percent rye recipe and a lower-rye blend built with corn, while the third, also 95 percent rye, comes from Bardstown Bourbon Company in Kentucky. Once blended, the whiskey is finished using Sherry French Revere Oak, a technique that infuses sherry cask character into the barrel, then bottled at 108 proof.

The nose opens with brown sugar and clove alongside spearmint, vanilla, and a trace of tart orange peel, with dark cherry and grape juice lingering underneath. On the palate, oak and char meet rye spice and burnt caramel, while the sherry influence surfaces subtly as dark fruit. The finish builds with white pepper and mint before settling into a long, warm close with just a whisper of sherried sweetness.
