Pusser's British Navy Rum Rum 750ml

Pusser's Rum traces its origins to a chance encounter at sea, when entrepreneur and former Marine Charles Tobias was assisted by a Royal Naval vessel while sailing near Gibraltar in 1978 and was given a jug of the ship's rum ration for his journey. Impressed by the spirit, Tobias spent the following years persuading the British Admiralty to grant him rights to the name, the original recipe, and the naval ensign for the bottle design. In 1979 he founded the company on Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, reviving a rum tradition that had ended nine years earlier with the Royal Navy's abolition of the daily tot, known as Black Tot Day.

Pusser's is produced to the original Admiralty specification, a blend of West Indian rums with the majority drawn from the pot stills of the Demerara River Valley in Guyana. The rum is aged in charred oak barrels, some of which previously held whisky or bourbon, and no added sugar, flavoring, or coloring agents are used. As part of the licensing agreement with the Admiralty, Pusser's continues to donate a share of worldwide sales to the Royal Navy Sailors' Fund, the charity established to support naval personnel after the ration ended.

The nose offers rich molasses and dark brown sugar layered with dried fruit, warm baking spice, and a characteristic earthy funk from the Demerara rum base. On the palate, caramel, toffee, and dark chocolate unfold alongside roasted coffee and stewed prunes, finishing long and warm with lingering molasses and a touch of smoky tobacco.
