Stolichnaya's Elit line was created in 2003, positioning itself among the pioneers of the ultra-premium vodka segment when the category was still taking shape. Produced by SPI Group, a company established in 1997 by Russian entrepreneur Yuri Shefler and now headquartered in Luxembourg, Elit built on decades of established Stolichnaya vodka-making tradition while pushing the production process further than the brand's standard offerings. The name has become closely associated with recognition in the spirits world, having earned high marks and multiple accolades from prominent tasting panels over the years.

Elit 18 starts with single-source winter wheat and pure artesian well water, distilled into Alpha Spirit, the highest grade recognized under Russian production standards, at a facility in Latvia. What distinguishes Elit from other Stolichnaya expressions is its freeze filtration process, in which the finished spirit is chilled to negative 18 degrees Celsius before being passed through ultra-fine quartz filters. This sub-zero step binds and removes remaining impurities that standard filtration methods leave behind, resulting in an unusually refined finished product.

The nose is dry and clean, with grainy notes underscored by hints of parchment, vanilla, and citrus peel. On the palate, the vodka feels firm yet velvety, with concentrated grain flavors mingling with a subtle sweetness and cracked black pepper spice. The finish turns long and soft, closing on a smooth, almost creamy note that lingers well after the sip.
