A Rare Chance to Taste Borgogno
A Rare Chance to Taste Borgogno, Barolo's Longest-Running Winery. Maria Giovanna Migliore, Brand Ambassador, will be here to pour.
Thursday, October 1st, 4:00–7:00 PM
Since 1761, Borgogno has been the longest continuously operating winery in Barolo. Its underground cellars remain a rare historical link to the Langhe's past, and the wines are still made the traditional way: long fermentations in concrete tanks, extended aging strictly in large Slavonian oak barrels. Borgogno farms its vineyards across Barolo, Madonna di Como, and the Colli Tortonesi with no chemical fertilizers or herbicides, using only eco-friendly treatments. More nature, less chemicals, that's the philosophy behind every bottle.
Maria Giovanna Migliore was born in Cuneo, Piedmont, and studied wine, culture, and tourism in Milan before returning home to the Langhe. She's worked at Giacomo Borgogno & Figli since 2020 as brand ambassador and hospitality manager.

The Wines
2024 Colli Tortonesi Timorasso DOC "Derthona" — #105155 — $57.99
A high-toned, structured white that brings Barolo-level aging potential and site-driven rigor to Piedmont's rare Timorasso grape. Grown on southwest-facing clay and limestone soils in Monleale at 250 meters elevation. Complex aromas of fresh pear, peach, acacia, and hawthorn flower, with mineral undertones and a hint of honey. High natural acidity balanced by rich texture, finishing long and mineral-driven.
2025 Dolcetto d'Alba DOC — #105202 — $20.99
A lovely, fresh, easy drinker with fruity red berry notes of cherry, raspberry, and plum, a hint of spice, and a finish of soft tannin and gentle earth.
2023 Barbera d'Alba — #102582 — $20.99
From the historic Giacomo Borgogno cellar, a vibrant, balanced, and accessible Barbera, reliable and versatile at the table. Fresh and fragrant, bursting with red and black fruit, black cherry, and raspberry, followed by round plum and a subtle spice note. Inviting and friendly on the palate, with medium body, persistent juicy acidity, and a velvety soft finish. A genuine crowd-pleaser at a real value price.
2011 Barolo DOCG "Fossati" — #105203 — $94.99
Earth, white truffle, and dried fruit, with hints of flowers. Full to medium-bodied, silky, soft tannins, and a decadent aftertaste.

2009 Barolo DOCG "Liste" — #105204 — $94.99
Beautifully fragrant and perfumed, with dried rose petal on the nose alongside tobacco leaf, coffee grounds, and dark chocolate shavings, savory and perfumed enough that the fruit takes a back seat. Tense and still quite tannic, but juicy, with high, mouthwatering acidity and a muscular, sinewy structure carrying subtle power.
92 pts Decanter, 93 pts Wine Spectator
NV Borgogno Chinato — #105206 — $58.99
Built from an ancient, secret Casa Borgogno recipe dating to the 1920s, a blend of Langhe Nebbiolo DOC and Barbera d'Alba DOC, infused with 46 aromatic herbs and botanicals, from vanilla, clove, gentian, and rhubarb to sandalwood, cardamom, calamus, mace, and two types of cinchona bark. Enjoy neat, on the rocks, with hot water, or alongside dark chocolate, as an aperitif, digestif, or cocktail base. Cesare Borgogno himself called it "a natural restorative, something that restores strength, restores life." Perfect indeed.
