Wines of Umbria Italy

Maurizio Farro of Cantiniere Imports will be in store to present wines from Tabarrini and Perticaia. Saturday, June 20 · 1–4 PM
Tabarrini
At the helm is Giampaolo Tabarrini, a fourth-generation farmer and winemaker whose vision and energy have transformed his family's farm into one of Italy's most dynamic estates. A great visionary who remains true to himself while striving for change, Giampaolo has, since taking over his parents' farm in the late 1990s, transformed it into an extraordinary success story — constantly moving in search of perfection, with a dynamism focused on the future but founded on strong roots. Sagrantino is the soul of the operation — while many Sagrantinos of Montefalco are often described in aggressive or overbearing terms, Tabarrini's wines stand apart for their layered complexity and nuance, bottled by single vineyard site where warranted. Wines consistently earn Tre Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso, Slow Wine honors, and frequent Wine Spectator scores in the 93–95 point range.
Perticaia
A project embraced by the Becca family — wine enthusiasts and successful entrepreneurs from Luxembourg — in 2018, when they took over a small family-run winery in Montefalco, embracing its history and values. With 34 hectares under vine, the estate's style has always been recognized for the elegance and finesse of the tannins in the classics of Montefalco: Sagrantino DOCG, Montefalco Rosso DOC, and Montefalco Rosso Riserva. Perticaia is also considered a pioneer in the rediscovery and valorization of Trebbiano Spoletino — for them a true signature of the territory. Their Sagrantino combines gorgeous aromatics and minerality with incredibly fine, even velvety tannins — a more approachable, elegant style than the appellation's reputation might suggest.
