Silenus Winery sits on land with a storied past, dating back to 1967 when the property first produced fruit for renowned names in the industry. This 2020 Merlot draws focus from the Materra Vineyard in Napa’s Oak Knoll District, a site celebrated for its cool evenings that help preserve vibrant acidity and balance in the glass. The wine is finished with a touch of Petit Verdot from the nearby Jaeger Vineyard and a small amount of estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, creating a carefully layered Bordeaux-style blend.
After harvest, the wine spent twenty-two months aging in a thoughtful mix of new French and American oak alongside neutral barrels, integrating tannins and adding subtle spice without overpowering the fruit.
Appearance and aroma meet in a deep garnet wine that opens with bright cranberry, Bing cherry, and blueberry notes, evolving into hints of spiced plum and dried tobacco leaf on the palate.
