The 2022 Cobb Wines Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast (750ml) captures the cool, maritime character of one of California’s most respected Pinot landscapes. Ross Cobb and his family farm forty acres on a remote ridgeline west of Occidental, stewarding the Coastlands Vineyard legacy with organic and regenerative practices and a hands-on, mailing-list–driven approach rather than a large commercial label. This appellation-level bottling draws on four vineyards—Abigail's, Emmaline Ann, Rice-Spivak, and Mes Filles—blending a clonal mix of Calera, Swan, Martini, and Pommard selections. The wine was fermented with 50 percent whole clusters using native yeast and bottled unfiltered to preserve its cool-climate essence. Production is intentionally small, with only 595 cases made. Tasting notes The wine opens with expressive blackberry fruit accented by conifer, forest floor, and a touch of crème brûlée. The medium-bodied palate delivers plush berry fruit framed by powdery tannins, saline minerality, and refreshing acidity, carrying through a long, satisfying finish. Flavor profile and winemaking approach - Pinot Noir that emphasizes restraint and precision typical of cool California coastlines - Native yeast fermentation with 50% whole clusters for texture and nuance - Unfiltered bottling to preserve aromatic complexity and a seaside, mineral-driven profile Food pairings This wine pairs beautifully with cedar-planked trout, roasted wild mushrooms, or a young Toma cheese, making it a versatile companion for seafood, earthy vegetables, and soft, tangy cheeses.

"The 2022 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is a pretty, open-knit appellation-level

Pinot. Bright fruit, silky tannins and floral aromatics make for an attractive,

easygoing red that is all charm. Hints of orange peel and spice linger. This

is a juicier style than normal.

"A bright ruby hue, the 2022 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is refreshing and snappy with fruity, fresh red berry fruit, black raspberries, zesty, lifted spices, and wildflowers. It’s salty and snappy on the palate without sacrificing ripeness and is focused and medium-bodied. It’s a highlight of the appellation wines, with a bright feel in this vintage, to drink over the coming 6-8 years."
