2023 Las Perdices - Malbec Lujan de Cuyo HALF BOTTLE (375ml)
Viña Las Perdices takes its name from a charming bit of local history: when Don Juan Muñoz López first arrived to plant vines in Agrelo, he was struck by the partridges that wandered the property in small groups, and named the estate Partridge Vineyard in their honor. The family has been growing grapes at the foot of the Andes since the 1970s, building a reputation for approachable, well-crafted wines from this corner of Luján de Cuyo.
The grapes for this Malbec are hand harvested from vineyards in Agrelo at roughly 1,030 meters above sea level, where cool nights help preserve acidity and color. Following a cold pre-fermentation maceration, the wine undergoes alcoholic fermentation with controlled temperatures and daily pump-overs, then a further maceration period before aging for about eight months in a combination of French and American oak, which builds color intensity and aromatic layering.
The wine shows an intense violet red color with aromas of red and black fruit, including plum and black cherry, wrapped in subtle oak spice. On the palate it is soft and well balanced, with round tannins and a smooth, easy-drinking finish. It pairs nicely with grilled sausage, empanadas, or roasted vegetables.
