The UV Vineyard sits at the heart of Aubert Wines' story, one of the estate's original owned sites and a namesake tribute to Ulises Valdez Sr., the vineyard manager who partnered with Mark Aubert from the winery's earliest days. Aubert built his reputation on vineyard designated Chardonnay and Pinot Noir after learning from Helen Turley at Peter Michael Winery in the late 1980s, later founding his own label with wife Teresa in 1999. UV remains one of the estate properties the couple farms directly, reflecting their hands on approach to viticulture.

Growing and Production

UV is planted on a distinctive clay based soil that sets it apart from Aubert's other Sonoma Coast sites, contributing to the wine's characteristically perfumed aromatics and plush, rounded texture. As with the rest of the Aubert portfolio, the fruit is fermented using native yeast with minimal intervention, allowing the particular character of the clay soil to come through clearly in the glass rather than being masked by heavy handed winemaking choices.

Tasting Notes

The 2024 vintage is soft and enveloping, layered with hibiscus, rose, and lilac aromatics over a core of pure cherry and raspberry. The palate echoes those bright red fruit tones, rounded out by orange oil, tonka bean, and an earthy, terra cotta undertone, all wrapped in the wine's signature voluptuous texture. It pairs nicely with roasted duck breast, seared tuna, or a lightly spiced pork tenderloin.

96 Points
"Marking the estate's twentieth vintage, the 2024 Pinot Noir UV Vineyard is primarily Calera clone and offers tremendous charm and immediacy. Cherries, pie spice, and bright red fruits lead into a palate that is balanced, fresh, and beautifully even. Fine tannins and a seamless texture make this highly appealing today, though it possesses sufficient structure to evolve gracefully over the next 15 or so years. Drink 2027-2043."
